Advanced Academic Ambassadors

Research tells us that students listen to their peers at a greater rate than any other source of information. The Advanced Academic Ambassadors Program was started as a way to capitalize on that! Ambassadors are juniors and seniors who have successfully completed and/or are enrolled in courses in at least two different advanced academic platforms that have the opportunity to earn college credit (i.e. IB and AP, AP and OnRamps, OnRamps and Dual Credit), and have demonstrated an interest in representing their campus and the district as an Ambassador for these programs. They have a desire to share their knowledge to support other students by speaking to multiple programs through their personal experiences at various campus and district Advanced Academics nights, programs, and conferences.

Adults: How to Request Advanced Academics Ambassadors

Round Rock ISD Advanced Academics Ambassadors are available to support campus, district, and community events where the focus is on supporting student success in advanced coursework and preparing for college. They will already be supporting events like the annual college fair, Advanced Academics Summer Conference, Advanced Academics Summer Experience, and Gifted and Advanced Academics Parent Conference.

Students: How to Seek Help from an Ambassador

Students taking advanced academics courses or who have questions about taking and succeeding in those courses can reach out to an Ambassador. An Ambassador will respond to inquiries and Frequently Asked Questions will be generated to answer basic recurring questions.

How to Become an Advanced Academics Ambassador

The application process occurs each spring and requires references who can speak to their skill set. Applications meeting the minimum requirements (2 or more platforms, jr/sr in the next school year) are then scored using a rubric. There may also be an interview process if needed. New ambassadors are notified of their selection in early May and undergo training before the summer starts to prepare them for summer events. It is anticipated that AA Ambassadors will commit to about 3-5 hours of training, 1 hour monthly district meetings/check ins, and approximately 3-5 events as needed.
