Event Information

What is OnRamps?
OnRamps is an innovative dual-enrollment program which brings rigorous courses aligned with the high standards and expectations of The University of Texas at Austin to our district students. The key benefit of early exposure to postsecondary education is the authentic entry point to college expectations it provides for students and their families. Additionally, students are eligible to earn transferable college credit, accelerating degree completion and reducing costs associated with college.
Who does the district partner with for OnRamps?
Round Rock ISD continues to partner with UT OnRamps as one of our college credit in high school opportunity providers, offering courses during the school day on high school campuses.
Who teaches the class?
Students are taught by a high school teacher in collaboration with a college professor, and take college assessments over the course of the year.
How is credit earned?

Students who earn a passing score average on college assessments are eligible to earn the college credit. High school grades and college grades are recorded separately, and a passing college grade results in a UT transcript.

What does it cost?
Costs related to the courses are determined by the state appropriation and UT Austin. The per course student enrollment fee for UT OnRamps is $149 plus a processing fee or $99 for free/reduced lunch eligible students, providing the program receives the same level of state funding. Students will pay this at the beginning of the school year. The student enrollment fee includes course content, instruction, technology access, assessments, and course credit if earned. Note: All college credit opportunities have similar associated costs, whether it is for the exam (AP/IB) or textbook (dual credit). History and Rhetoric each count as two courses, one in the fall and one in the spring.
Which courses are offered at my school?
Check with your counselor for the available options, as they vary by campus.
Are OnRamps courses counted for GPA?
Due to the rigor of the courses and the opportunity to earn college credit, the high school grade from an OnRamps course is weighted and included for GPA and rank in class calculations.

Advantages

  • Successful performance generates a University of Texas transcript which is accepted at almost all colleges and universities.
  • Students do not have to meet TSI prior to enrollment.
  • Students may get credit for the high school course without earning credit for the college course.
  • All courses available are core courses.

Considerations

  • The more self-directed learning format may not be a good fit for all students.
  • Some students may not prefer digital resources and online assessments.
